T Brewer is a specialist Timber Supplier with three branches covering London and the South East. We have just over fifty employees and for the last few years have used one of the national employment advice services. The ‘package’ we bought included ‘indemnity’ in respect of ‘tribunal costs and awards’ but only if the business followed agreed procedures to the letter and completely accepted the advice given.

I found it more and more frustrating that the advisors would not look at situations in a commercial manner. Also that nearly every time I spoke to them I would get a different advisor. Nearly every eventuality was covered by a ‘template’ which would be sent for me to fill in. Also the last renewal was for a term of seven years which I would not accept and they reluctantly offered a break clause which we have now exercised.

Kate on the other hand offers very sensible and commercial advice and produces the letters for us. We don’t have the tribunal indemnity but ‘hey we have only had one in the last 22 years!’ We had an issue very recently when Kate was on holiday in France but she was in daily email contact backed up by the other contacts in her office. To date (and it has only been three/four months) I am delighted we moved!
