In some cases a return to work (RTW) meeting is very straightforward. Someone who takes hardly any sickness absence finally succumbs to a nasty bug, comes back to work after a day or two and everything carries on as normal.
Unfortunately, not every employee or worker is like this. There will always be a few employees who take a great deal of sickness absence. Some of the absence may be due to genuine illness (we have to accept that everyone gets ill occasionally), but in some cases the employee may be afflicted by what we call “Chronic Monday-itis” and this results in taking days off when really he or she could and should be at work.
