Managing redundancy for employee representatives

Where an organisation proposes to make between 20-99 employees redundant, the law places a duty upon it to consult collectively with a recognised trade union or elected employee representatives. Such collective consultation must be completed before notice of dismissal is given to any of the employees concerned and it must be meaningful; it is not enough only to inform. This workshop gives employee representatives the skills and knowledge to carry out their role properly. Half day.

Covers:

  • the duty to consult and inform?
  • legal framework
  • the process
  • how to be an effective participant
  • key skills

Role plays are used throughout this workshop.

Testimonials

Kate has supported me for the last two years on a variety of staffing issues ranging from NHS tendering to redundancy consultation. Whatever the scenario throughout Kate has been nothing but focused and professional but always showing empathy to the situation or individual involved. Kate’s biggest strengths are her ability to cut through the waffle offering quick, clear and straight forward advice which is easy to follow and execute. Her e-mails and phone communication support this and have made my role of managing staff far easier since we engaged her. Highly recommended. In essence what I am trying to say she cuts through the b******t, gets the job done and at the same time is a pleasure to work with!
