As a manager you’re expected to do what you reasonably can to support and help your team members. But you’re not required to provide endless emotional support for people who struggle to meet their own needs. The best approach is to help an emotionally dependent team member discover how to identify and meet their own needs. If you can do this thoughtfully and with care, you will help this person, and everyone around them.

The pandemic has not just cost billions, it’s fundamentally changed the way we do business and that inevitably has an impact on resourcing. Over the last week or two, I have spent about 80% of my time discussing and planning restructures and redundancies with clients and the remaining 20% supporting clients who have already started redundancy consultations.

Late on Friday 12th June the Government published updated guidance on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. The requirement for an employee to remain on furlough for three weeks is being removed from 1 July. This means that from 1st July employees will be able to work for some days (or part days) and be furloughed for others.
